Nomura Islamic Asset Management (“NIAM”) (Company No.: 838564-T) obtained its Islamic fund management license in Jan 2009. NIAM’s setup was in line with our objective to expand the group’s Islamic footprint through branding NIAM as the global hub for Islamic asset management business for the group. Being the global hub for the group’s Islamic asset management business, we always ensure our control procedures are flexible enough to adhere to different Shariah standards preferred by clients of our Shariah compliant investment mandates.
NIAM has been amongst the top 25 largest Islamic Fund Manager globally in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 according to the Asian Investor Magazine, and was most recently the recipient of the Best Islamic Fund Manager Award 2016 at the Global Islamic Finance Awards 2016 held in Jakarta, Indonesia. NIAM is also a member of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), a badge of honour we have worn since 2007.

Chief Executive Officer (Nomura Islamic Asset Management
Mr. Ramlie is currently the chief executive officer of Nomura Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd. He has extensive experience in the global capital markets and financial services industry, spanning over 20 years in Singapore and Malaysia, and covering the areas of global sales, advisory services and deal executions of capital market products, listed derivatives products, insurance and risk transfer solutions, and most recently, customized global investment solutions.
Mr. Matsunaga is the Executive Advisor and a director of Nomura Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd. He joined Nomura Securities Co., Ltd in 1978, and he has over 30 years of direct experience in the capital market and financial services industry. He has contributed by helping to expand the marketing and institutional sales activities across various entities in the Nomura Group at Mexico, New York, Tokyo, Bahrain and London.
